HATAITAI BATHING CLUB

,i Mr. G. B. Wilson presided over a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Hataltai Bathing Club held last night. He said that the.widening of the Evans Bay Bbad had threatened to encroach on. the club's bathing area. A committee, however, had waited on the City Engineer, Mr. K. E. Luke, arid had been assured, that this area would be preserved as. far as possible. Two successful dances were held during tHe year, also a picture night which gave the club a gain of £7. The membership had been well maintained and the number of members in the club was the highest on record. - Mr. S. C. Dyer, the noted Australian diver, was present, and said that he intended to devote time to the coaching of younger members. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Dyer for his interest in the club. Mention was made of the visit of the flying-boat Centaurus, whose commander, Captain. J. W. Burgess, was a former member of the dub. Captain Burgess was elected a life member. Congratulations were extended to Miss Sylvia Gotlieb, who won the New Zealand and the Wellington women's 100 yds championship.- Trophies were presented as follows:—Boyd Cup, *R. Hatchwell; Lawson and Quinn Cups, Miss M. Thompson; Lloyd and Stillwell Cups, P. Ballard; Shakes Cup, J. Dunlop,' Brabiri Cup and Lankshear Vase, Miss F. Homersham. : It was decided that November 19 should be opening day. . The following officers were elected:— Patron, J. C. Burbery; president, G. R. Wilson; vice-presidents, the Hon. R. Semple, Captain P. J. Ballard, and Messrs. J. E. Quinn, E. Lawson, W. F. Stillwell. and F. C. Renouf; honorary secretary, Mr. G. S. Lloyd; hon. treasurer, Mr. W. D. Edwards; committee, Mrs. A. O. Murdoch, Miss M. Thompson, Messrs, P. Ballard, E. Lawson, J. Lockie, W. Roberts; honorary auditor, Mr. J. L. Arcus; delegates to Wellington Centre, Messrs, Ballard and Shakes.
