RUGBY, October 17.

On the occasion of the recent opening of the British Institute in Bucharest, telegrams signed by Lord Lloyd, chaix-man of the British Council, and Dr. V. Tilea, president of the, AngloRumanian Society, were sent to King George and to King Carol, patron of the Anglo-Rumanian Society.

Lord Lloyd, who has just returned from a private visit to Rumania, where he took the opportunity to perform the inaugural ceremony, has now received the following telegram from King George:-—

"I much appreciate the telegram addressed tome by Dr. Tilea and yo.urself on the occasion of .the inauguration of the British Institute. in Bucharest, Please convey to Dr. Tilea my sincere thanks, together with my best wishes for the future of the British Institute." . •

The new British Institute, which started in 1937, is an English school founded by the Anglo-Rumanian Society with 150 pupils, and has expanded its premises to accommodate the 2300 pupils now studying there.
