DOCKED WITHOUT AID
QUEEN MARY AT NEW YORK
(Received October 19, 9.40 a.m.>
NEW YORK, October 18.
The liner Queen Mary, with 1600 passengers aboard, achieved the difficult task of docking under her own power, 34 minutes after arriving at the pier, unaided by tugs, owing to a strike of 2000 tug-workers. This averted a possible longshoremen's walk-out, for if non-union tugs had been used the labour of the port would have been tied up.
