QUESTIONS FOR MR. NASH
"I have read a report of a statement made by the Hon. W.Nash, Minister of Marketing, with reference to Mr. Falconer's statement with regard the shipment of potatoes to South America," said Mr. D. P. Howlett, Na^ tional candidate for Wellington South, today.
"I have information which cannot be denied. Perhaps the best way * that I can place the matter before the public would be to ask Mr. Nash whether 500 tons of potatoes left Lyttelton on August 30 last consigned to Messrs. Peluffo, of Montevideo, that, on receipt of those potatoes, the Minister's Department received advice from the consignees, or on their behalf, that .the market was glutted and asked that ho more be sent, and that Mr. Nash and his Department, in spite of this advice, shipped 3000 tons on October 6, which, it is estimated, will cost the CrOVCTnment over £6 per ton, to,the same consignees, knowing full well .that,,the market was closed and the action of..the Department was nothing, more or less than 'dumping.'
