HOPES OF ASYLUM
SUDETEN REFUGEES
REQUEST TO BRITISH DOMINIONS
(Received October 13, 12.15 pjn.)
LONDON, October 12.
The Australian Associated Press says that Mr. Malcolm Mac Donald, as acting Secretary for the Dominions, passed on to the High Commissioners for New Zealand, Australia, and Canada an urgent request from Sudeten Democrats for asylum for refugees from the new Nazi regime. It is understood that the request was sent on without comment.
The Sudetens have been strongly advised not to build false hopes. The Dominions Office is merely acting as a post office, but the fact that the request was passed on indicates that the significance of the Dominions to Britain has been revolutionised.
Britain is no longer greatly concerned about outlets for her excess population, and is increasingly concerned at indications of her own declining popul'atioh.
