SWIMMING

V.M.C.A. CLUB

annual meeting of the V.M.C.A.I Swimming and Life-saving Club was held last evening, Dr. F. M. Spencer i presiding. I . The annual report, which has already been published, was adopted. \ The club captain, Mr. J. K. Thwaites, said that the club had made a good showing last year, and had brought the standard of its swimming back to that of the war years. He hoped that members would try-to improve the club's swimming standards during the approaching season, and he mentioned the possibility of a harbour swim from Pipitea Wharf to Oriental Bay. Surf medallions won last year were awarded to Messrs. E. Moncur, J. Howie, R. McConnell, D. Niven, L. Waller, K. Osborne, S. C. Niven, and E. McConchie.
