ADDINGTON MARKET

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH, October 12.

The entries at the weekly stock market at Addington today were smaler than last week, but there was a slight improvement in values for the more important section of fat sheep, fat cattle, and fat pigs. There was little change in value for store sheep, except for ewes and lambs, which showed an easing except for better sorts by about ls a head. Realisations were: Sheep.—Good pens of ewes and lambs brought to 16s 3d; medium sorts, 8s to 10s; indifferent, 5s 6d tn 7s 6d;

hoggets sold firmly and best wether made to 16s 4d; medium, lis; rough down to 6s; ewe hoggets, 13s 6d to 15s lOd; best spring lambs eased, and primest sorts made about lid a lb.

The fat sheep entry was larger than last week, comprising about 4750 head, which met good competition throughout as at last week's sale. Shorn sheep met the best demand and there was an appreciation of about ls a head for best ewes and wethers. Prices were: Extra prime heavy woolly wethers to 36s lOd; prime wethers, 31s 6d to 33s 6d; prime medium, 27s to 30s 6d; light, to 225; extra prime shorn wethers, to 27s lOd; prime, 23s to 25s 6d; prime medium, 21s to 22s 6d; light, 19s; extra prime woolly ewes, 26s 7d; prime, 23s to 255; prime medium, 18s 6d to 22s 6d; light, 15s 6d; best shorn ewes, 20s to 22s lOd; medium, 16s to 18s 6d; light to 14s 6d. The fat cattle entry consisted of 422 head. The market firmed after the first race and at the end values were up to 20s. Better heavyweight prime beef made 46s to 48s 64; heifers, m cases, 47s 6d; cows, to 45s a 1001b. Other prices were:—Extra prime steers made to £23 2s 6d; prime, £17 15s to £20; prime medium, £16 5s to £171 15s; light, to £12 ss; extra prime heifers, to £16 17s 6d; prime, £12 10s to £14 10s; medium, £10 10s to £U 15s; light, £10; extra prime cows, £16 17s 6d; prime, £11 5s to £13 10s; medium, £8 10s to £10; light, £8. The porker entry in the fat pig section was again oh the light side, but the sale was one of the best of the season. A good number of rough and unfinished sorts were readily snapped up by bacon fatteners and prices generally advanced 2s to 3s. Choppers in small supply found a further hardening in values, and. baconers, which were yarded in large numbers, were very firm on ruling rates of last week. Prices were: Choppers, £3 3s 6d to £5 16s; porkers, 46s 6d to £3.9s 6d; average price a lb, 8d to BJd; baconers, £3 10s 6d to £5 17s 6d; average price a lb, 7Ad to 7gd.
