MANY ADVANCES MADE
Educational advances since the advent of the Labour Government were traversed by the Minister of Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) in an ad*t_ress at the Hataitai School last evening.
Beginning" with the more liberal basis provided for the computation of kindergarten grants, Mr. Fraser emphasised the importance, of the re-ad-mission of the five-year-olds, the more favourable grading of primary schools, consolidation of schools in the children's interests,' extension of school health services and dental clinics, the provision of milk in schools, increased financial assistance for school committees and secondary school boards, the abolition of the proficiency examination, and many other important measures extending through to higher education. The Government's aim, he said, was to improve educational facilities from the kindergarten to the university, so that aptitude could be discovered and the fullest advantage taken of every educational opportunity.
