ENTERTAINING EVENING

Mrs. Sired, who presided at the meeting of the Aro Street Mission Band of Hope, read the story from Wey* mouth's "Bible in Modem Speech" of the seed sown in good ground.

Mr. Stock gave a lantern lecture and talk on the fascinating life history of bees, putting it into story form, and showing how they lived for the good only of their community . Mr. Stock also showed a picture he had obtained of the Irish patriot and temperance reformer, Father Matthew, of whom the police said, when there was fighting and drinking in a district, "Send for Father Matthew to come and "get" them to'sign the pledge."

Prizes were offered "for" temperance knowledge.
