CENTRAL CIRCUIT
The quarterly meeting of the Wellington Ceritral Circuit was held' sit Wesley Church on Monday last, thie Rev. Percy Paris presiding..The Revs. J. H. Haslam and O. E. Burton supported the chairman and there was a good attendance of members. The membership returns showed a slight drop on the previous quarter, due to a number of removals. The statement, of income and expenditure revealed a credit balance on the quarterns working, which was considered very satisfactory. Youth returns were presented by Mr. W, E. Howe and Rev. J. H. Haslarn arid congratulations extended to Wesley Suriday School on its 97th anniversary. . .7 ■ J . . The Wellington Methodist District Synod is to be held at Lower Hutt in November, and Mrs. -Reed and Messrs. B. O. Stokes, T. M. Pacey, and R. T. Maunder were elected representatives with Messrs. W. E. Howe and A. C. Berrington as substitutes, i *' Mr. R. E. Herron reported on,the. foreign mission appeal,, which .had been satisJactory. The Rev. Geo. Laurenson assistant home mission superintehdent; will be the deputation to the circuit on October 22, when special services will be held. X . , Cordial invitations --were extended to the Revs. Percy Paris, J. H. Haslam, and O. E. Burton, M.A., to remain in the circuit for a fifth year, and appreciative Reference was made to their work at th6it respective churches. The invitations were accepted subject to Conference confirmation. The Rev. T. R. Richards- was. re-r appointed to take the evening- services at Aro Street for a furthefcfthree months, and reference was > ;J"iiade: to the good work he is doing. ,* The meeting passed a motion of congratulation and appreciation of the services rendered .by Mr. H. Temple White to Wesley. Church over a period of" twenty-five years as organist and choirmaster. Messrs. T. M. Pacey, Nicholson,. G. R. Laking, and B. O. Stokes were appointed circuit representatives to district executive. Special-collections were authorised for home' missions, * Otakou Memorial Church,. arid : Webb Street Sunday School 'Anniversary.
A largely-attended congregational meeting of: St. David's Presbyterian Church," Petone, unanimously decided last ev.ening to .send a call to the Rev. Colin 'Mackenzie, B.A. Mr. Mackenzie is-at present in Clutha Valley. He is; a' yourig man, v/ho was considered tfyej iriost brilliant student during his term j at Knox .Theological Hall. The call is! at. present beirig signed by communi-j cants and adherents, and it is under-j stood that Mr. Mackenzie has intimated his willingness to accept.
