WOMEN'S CRICKET

WELLINGTON CONTROL

ANNUAL MEETING

.The progress of women's cricket in Wellington was made the subject of congratulatory references by Mrs. J. H. Poulter at the annual meeting of the Wellington Women's Cricket Association, over which she presided. The executive was complimented upon its report, and pleasure was expressed at the fact that the girls were keeping up the high standard of sportsmanship which was the pride and boast of the association. It was a matter of pleasure also that Wellington had had five representatives (four players and the manager) in the New Zealand team which visited Australia. Mrs. Poulter concluded by wishing all clubs a successful and-enjoyable season-

In apologising for her inability to be present on account of political meetings, the patroness, Mrs. Knox Gilmer, indicated her keen interest in the association's doings. She congratulated the association upon its report and extended best wishes for the coming season. On the motion of Mrs. Poulter a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Knox Gilmer for her interest and support

Three new clubs —Onslow, Hutt United, and Midland—were granted affiliation. It was reported that matches would commence on October 29, and that the starting time would be 1.30 p.m., the rule regarding forfeiture of matches if teams were more than fifteen minutes late to be enforced by umpires this season.

The election of officers resulted:— Patroness, Mrs. Knox Gilmer; president, Mr. Martin Luckie; vice-presi-dents, Misses A. Kane, I. Bridgman, N G. Isaacs, L. Greenwood, Messrs. C. G. Wilson, G. Bassant, J. H. Buck, W. O. Bock, J. W. Gaudin, R. G. Ridting, R. J. Murphy; hon. secretary. Mrs. D. E. Simons; assistant hon. secretary, Miss A. Lawson; hon. treasurer, Miss I. Pickering; recorder, Miss J. Stenberg; executive, Mesdames W. Tasker and N. McDonald, and Misses M. Simpson, B." Calder, and D. Hill; delegates to New Zealand Women's Cricket Council, Mrs. D. E. Simons and Miss I. Pickering; hon. auditor, Mr. E. C. Wiren; life member, Miss A. McCrea. A Hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. J. H. Poulter, who did not seek re-election owing to ill health. The hon. secretary and treasurer were also accorded votes of thanks, as was the hon. auditor.

Several additions were made to the rules. One was that honorary members bo received at a subscription of 2s 6d per season. Another provided for teams being required to pay 5s 6ti as ground fee each Saturday, this taking the place of the rule "ground fees shall be 6d per player." After some discussion it was decided that the executive thoroughly investigate the institution of a scheme for insurance of players.
