LAST RESPECTS
THE LATE MR. JAMES KERR
A remarkable tribute to the memory of the late Mr. James Kerr, J.P., was the large attendance at his funeral yesterday, representatives of many organisations with which he had been connected being present. There were about 100 cars in the cortege.
The services at the house and at the Taita Cemetery were conducted by the Very Rev. G. Budd, Superintendent of Missions of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand and an ex-Moderator, who was a brother-in-law of the deceased. The pall-bearers from the house were Messrs. H. A. Ryder, D. Craig, H. Green, O. Silbery, H. Firth, A. M. Macfarlane, and P. White, the last-named being from Greymouth. At the cemetery the pall-bearers were the following members of the Masonic craft: Messrs. C. R. Nottingham, H. Morgan, F. W. Greenfield, H. Poole, R. Singer, and F. Dunn, Mr. Dunn conducted the Masonic service.

Taylor, W. Wells, C. Kilgour, L. White, and M. McCarthy. A short meeting of the Petone Fire Board was held after the funeral, and many eulogistic-remarks were made about Mr. Kerr's services to the board as a member for twenty years, the last four of which he was chairman. The meeting was adjourned until a member is appointed by the Government in place of Mr Kerr, and in the meantime Mr. G. London is to be deputychairman. , A memorial service to the late Mr. Kerr will be held in St. David's Presbyterian Church, Petone. next Sunday at 11 a.m., and it, will be conducted by the Moderator of the Wellington Presbytery (the Rev. P. J- Wain-1 wright). The deceased was an elder in the Presbyterian Church for many years.
