DEFAULTER IN ACCIDENT

The weather and track conditions at Wingatui this morning were perfect for gallops for the Dunedin Meeting. The centre and outside of the course proper were open for fast work.
The McLean Stakes candidate Winning Rival was first to work, and she sprinted three furlongs next to the rails in an attractive manner. Great Fight, from the same stable, recorded 53 l-ssec for half a mile in the centre of the course. Harwich took 55 3-5 sec for a similar task.
Density, who suffered a knocking about in a shunting accident on ai-rival at Dunedin yesterday, ran three furlongs on the course proper in 43sec. Defaulter, who was also in the accident and received a bump over his offside eye, pleased by running six furlongs on the outside of the track in Imin 26 4-ssec, after taking 43 2-5 sec for the final three.
Colonel Rouge and Sparkle occupied 52 l-ssec to run half a mile, the last three in 40sec, both going well within themselves. . Astaire was sent seven furlongs on the plough, taking Imin 38 2-ssec. Lord Nuffleld could have improved on his-42see for .ihree furlongs on the same track.
Dark Flight was sprinted two furlongs next to the rails in 25sec. Silver Slipper traversed six furlongs in Imin 28sec, being wide out most of the way.
Pink Robe, and Last Refrain, both carrying big. weights, jumped oft at the five-furlong post on the pldugh track, and, after running the first two in 25 l-ssec, finished on even terms in Imin 4sec, a very pleasing gallop. Kilrobe was sent six furlongs on the pldugh arid was under a strong hold over the last furlong to complete her task in Imin 28 <2-ssec. Atwa Here, after running his first furlong in 12 2-ssec, covered half a mile on the plough in 49 2-ssec.
Valantua, who is looking very well, was given two circuits on the plough, sprinting down the straight each time.
Passaform, another who was in the shunting acident, was let off with three-quarter pace work, and according to his trainer is still suffering from shock.
Alma did half-pace work only and looks well.
