CHANGES AT PRAGUE

"GOODBYE FRANCE"

The Czechoslovak Cabinet which resigned at 8 p.m., has. been reconstituted under General Sirovy^ who retains the portfolio of National Defence. Others in the Cabinet are Dr. F. K. Chvalkovsky, Minister of Foreign Affairs, formerly Minister at Rome; Dr. Czerny, Minister of the Interior; Dr. J. Kalfus, Minister of Finance, M. Zenkl, Minister of Social Welfare; M. Bukhovsky, president of the Sokol without portfolio, and three Slovaks, MM. Karvas, Caidas, and Sajnor, who have no political affiliations,
The Slovak Minister Dr. V. Cermakj carried out his earlier threat to resign on the ground that the proposals of the Government for the satisfaction of the Slovak demands for autonomy were inadequate. The first authoritative indication of the forthcoming change in Czechoslovak foreign policy was given in an editorial in the Liberal daily newspaper "Lidovy Noviny" under the, heading "Goodbye France" which declares that the future of Czechoslovakia will be linked up with Germany. ALONGSIDE FORCE. \ "We have played long enough the role of policeman," says the article. "We have been deserted by the world and governed by force, not law. Therefore our place is alongside force. There is nothing left for us but to get along with Germany and even in commercial relations we must refrain from combinations aligning us against Germany. We must recognise Herr Hitler and Signor Mussolini as more powerful than France, which is threatened from three sides."
