IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT SAID TO BE LIKELY
LONDON, October 4,
Despite semi-official statements that the British Ambassador, Lord Perth, and the Foreign Minister, Count Ciano, during a meeting lasting an hour discussed only the organisation of international police in the minority areas of Czechoslovakia, the diplomatic correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" declares that the discussions were unusually important.
"It is not expected that the result will be that Mr. Chamberlain will think it desirable or necessary to visit Rome."
he added, "but it is believed that an important development is likely immediately in circumstances influencing Anglo-Italian relation*"
