SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
An anticyclone has remained almost stationary to the west of the Auckland Peninsula while a very Intense westerly depression, the centre of which was near Hobart yesterday, is now approaching southern.1 New Zealand. Moderate to strong south-westerlies have prevailed north of Greymouth while elsewhere winds have been mainly north-westerly. The only rain has been a few light falls on the-west coast of . the South Island. Qtherwise the weather has been fair to fine in eastern and fair to cloudy in western districts, with mild temperatures. ' '. TODAY'S WEATHER
