(Received September 28, ■11 a.m.) LONDON, September, 27. The authorities have cancelled the leave of the Metropolitan Police. Certain officers have been recalled from leave.

Sir Frederick Maurice returned to London yesterday and placed the reply before Mr. Chamberlain.
The British Legion was established in 1921 under the late Field-Marshal Earl Haig for the purpose- of uniting in one organisation all existing associations of ex-servicemen. In 1925 it was incop* porated by Royal charter. It is nan* political and non-sectarian, and membership is open to all men and women (British or naturalised) who served with the forces of the Crown.
