PRIZES PRESENTED

The annual prize-giving and. central rally in connection with the Scripture examinations held by the Wellington Sunday School Union took place on Monday evening in the Salvation Army Citadel. A large audience was preThe president of the union (Mr. W. F Stock) was in the chair, and the official party on the platform included Mrs Holland and Mrs. Stock, Mr. W. 5 Howe the honorary extension organiser and Mrs. Howe, Mrs. Callam, and Messrs Grocott and Feltham (examiners), Mr. R. M. Russell, past president, end Mrs. Russell, Miss Rice and Mr. A. H. Ivory, vice-presidents, Mr. W." G. Holdsworth, life patron, Miss Sliffe, representing the Wellington Primary Teachers' Association, the Rev. A. Salmond, representing the Presbyterian Youth organisations, and {he secretary of the union. Apologies were received from the Rev. R. B. Gosnell, Pastor A. G. Saunders, and Mrs. Hansen. Owing to indisposition Bishop Holland was unable to attend.

A special feature of the gathering was the singing of the combined Sunday schools choir of nearly one hundred boys and girls, conducted by Mr. Howe, with Mrs. Howe at the piano.

An address was delivered by the Rev. P. J. Wainwright, Moderator of ;he Wellington Presbytery.

Prizes were presented to the children by Mrs. Holland, and the Benediction, pronounced by the Rev. A. Salmond, brought a successful function to a ©lose,
