BENES'S LAST CARD

HERR HENLEiN'S OPINION

(Received September 26, 11 a.m.)

LONDON, September 25,

Berlin reports that Herr Henlein issued a proclamation that the Czech President, in a gamble, had thrown his last card and was leaning on a military Government which was counter to the Constitution. No German would obey mobilisation. The Berlin correspondent 'of the British United Press says that a statement made to the foreign Press says that political circles consider there is no possibility of a German guarantee of the new Czech frontiers after the solution of the Sudeten problem in so far as a guarantee might oblige Germany to protect the frontiers even when they concern the right of other nationalities to self-determination. It i would naturally be otherwise if Czechoslovakia freed foreign nationalities not wishing to live in Czechoslovakia. It is stated that Sudeten refugees in Germany now numbeE 170,000, including 2000 soldiers who fled with their arms. The refugees brought with them over 1000 Czech soldiers, officers, and officials, who are now interned as hostages for refugees' families.
