BRITISH RECOGNITION
A letter from the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital (which has a Royal incorporation and patronage) makes the following statement which will interest those in New Zealand who have tried • in, vain to have the names of these nurses. placed on the archway at Karori Memorial Cemetery:—
"With the opening of a new nurses' home for the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital for women and children in October there will be carried into effect a memorial in honour of those overseas nurses who died during the Great War while serving with the forces of the Empire.
"A- fund for this purpose was raised in 1926 under the leadership of the late Dowager Marchioness of Dufferin and Ava, and the sum collected was handed over to this hospital to be incorporated into the new home for the nursing staff that it was our intention to build. Financial difficulties have delayed the undertaking, but now with the completion of the building
