FINE AND MILD

Special forecast for Wellington:— Light to moderate northerly winds. Weather fine and mild.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing twenty-four hours, is for light to moderate and variable winds, north-easterlies to northerlies predominating. Weather clear and fine generally at first but with cloud increasing in northern and western districtSj and scattered drizzly rain developing in the far north and south. Temperatures mild. Thanks to the anticyclone which extends from Australia to beyond the Dominion, well-nigh ideal weather is now being experienced over almost the whole of the country.. Little so far has come of the depression which ap- ! peared to be developing yesterday near Norfolk Island, so the unsettled conditions which were anticipated in northern New Zealand have not eventuated. Winds have been light to variable, but moderate easterlies now blow north of Auckland. Though very settled yesterday, the weather was partly cloudy, but has improved and this morning almost everywhere had clear skies. The day temperatures have been mild, but there were some sharp frosts again in the South Island last night. . It was overcast but fine in Auckland yesterday with practically no wind. The sky cleared in the evening but was cloudy again this morning. Average temperatures prevailed, the maximum being 61.6 and the minimum 41.2 deWellington had a mild day yesterday with some passing clouds and a.-clear cool night; Winds were very light, a southerly blowing during the day and a northerly from 10 p.m. onwards. The maximum temperature was 57 decrees and the minimum 43.2. The grass minimum was 33.4. There were six hours of sunshine. There was some cloud m the atternoon at Christchurch, but otherwise the weather was fine and sunny with a moderate north-easterly breeze. Temperatures were mild during the day, but there was a sharp frost of 9.8 degrees last night. The maximum temperature was 54.6 and the minimum bunedin weather was cool but otherwise ideal with bright sunshines and. only a few clouds and a light easterly breeze.
