TURF NEWS IN BRIEF

Entheos and Hanover, who were winners of the jumping events at Marton in July, are engaged again tomor-' Although his latest form has not been encouraging, Warehi has previously raced well on the Marton track and last spring he was a surprise second in the same event as he is engaged in tomorrow. . ; , The Beau Peres secured their first success when Amigo won the Juvenile Handicap at Marton last year. With Beau Vite and Tableau engaged tomorrow, they should go near opening their season's account at this meeting again this year., „■'.„.■■■ Besides Siglow (Sigurd's full-bro-ther), the only new name in the field for the Marton Juvenile Handicap tomorrow is Deflation, a Colt by Inflation out of the Bezonian mare True Step, dam previously of Celeritas, and owned by his breeder, Mr. H. E. Edmunds. . _ ~ Kokako, engaged xn. the Farewell Hack Handicap at Marton tomorrow, is a three-year-old gelding by Hunting Song out of the speedy Chief Ruler mare Hinewai. He will be having his first race and will carry the colours of Mrs. A. Hicks, of Hawera, who holds him on lease. Auckland horses have often paid successful visits to Marton meetings. A small team from J. F. Tutchen's Franklin stable will be at tomorrow's meeting. They comprise Sinking Fund, Philemup, and Fnskland, none of whom has raced yet this season. Sinking Fund has yet to gain a place as a hurdler, but he has now come down to a handy mark in the weights. Auto Sweep seems to be just so good and not good enough in bis races, but he has a chance to open his score at Marton tomorrow, as the roomy track and long straight will play into his style. He should be well enough seasoned now if ever he is to win a race. Some years ago his half-brother, Cottesmore, secured a surprise win in the open distance event at a Marton Spring Meeting.
