RAILWAY REJOICING
HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL DANCE
A very delightful dance was given by the Head Office, Railways Department, last night at the Mayfair Cabaret. The lighting effects were particularly .ingenious and effective, and were described expertly as "colour light searchlight signals." Two bright blue and white lights shining from big black discs attracted attention with their arresting "warnings," as they shone on the dancers from, either side of the •room. The walls were draped with ■ red, white, and blue bunting, which was also arranged in "hourglass" devices at intervals round the walls, creating an unusual colour design. .-? •■■...,':.;. The flowers included bowls of arum lilies, daffodils, and-poppies placed on the tables, and massed flowers were banked on the "island" ledge in the centre of the floor. Spring flowers decorated the supper-room, where a savoury supper was served. More than 300 guests were •present, and the frocking was specially attractive.
