LABOUR ORGANISATION
A meeting of the combined election committees of the Labour Party in the Wellington North electorate, set up to assist the candidature of Mr. C. ■H. Chapman, M.P., was held on Saturday night. Mr. A. Parlane, president of the Wellington North branch of the Labour Party, presided, in association with Messrs. Chapman and W. R. McKay, secretary of the branch. Encouraging reports were received from the area committee, and a large number of women offered their services during the campaign. Addresses were given by Messrs. Chapman, Parlane, and McKay. Mr. Parlane compared past and present elections, and said it was a pleasure to have so many assistants on this occasion. Mr. Chapman thanked the members of the committees for their support, and outlined the political situation of the electorate. ■ Mr. McKay, who was appointed organiser, described how the campaign would be organised. A number of area representatives from the committee were elected to assist. The meeting closed with a vote of confidence in the Labour Government and in Mr. Chapman.
