DEMAND FOR PLEBISCITE
SUDETEN CROWD
ADDRESSED BY LORD RUNCIMAN
(Received September 12, 2.30 p.m.) PRAGUE, September 11. Being introduced by a Sudeten German, Herr Woellmer, Lord Runciman caused a surprise by addressing a cheering crowd of Sudetens outside a castle where he was spending the weekend. "You are $he liberator of millions from persecution. We no longer have confidence in the promises of the Czechs," the crowd shouted. "Save us j from the Czechs. Plebiscite! Plebiscite!" Lord Runciman declared he was trying to bridge the gap between the tw9 peoples in a way which would assure peace with satisfaction to all. The crowd again shouted "Plebiscite!" 4
