SYNOPSIS OF LAST 48 HOURS.
BurijiK the weekend an anticyclone liai moved slowly across the north Tasmaii Sea on to northern Xew Zealand. At the -same time a series of westerly depressions crossing the south Tnsman Sea has caused a considerable fall of pressure over the South Island. Winds on Saturday were, mainly between north-east and south-east, but changed by Sunday to westerly and still continue between' north-west and south-west. They hare been strong in central districts nnd the far south, with gales in some places, and light to moderate elsewhere. With the change to westerly winds the weather has become changeable and showery in western districts and fnir to fine in eastern. . Temperatures have been very mild east of the ranges and moderate elsewhere. ■■■■''.
