WELLINGTON TEAM
Southland's win over Otago on ] I Saturday caused an alteration of plansj so far as Wellington's bid for the Ran-, furly Shield is concerned. It will be on Wednesday at Invercargill instead of next Saturday at Dunedin that Wei-: lington will play for the trophy, the I challenge to Otago having automatic- | ally transferred to the new holders, : Southland. The possibility of this hapjpening was not overlooked by the Weli lington Rugby Union, but to make sure that its wishes in the matter were j known—though the position Is govjerned by a new Ranfurly Shield rule —it communicated with the Southland Rugby Union on Saturday night. A request was also made that an outside referee be appointed. Wellington's team for the southern tour left on Saturday night, and the intention was to send three additional players—Pollock. Tindill. and Lambourn—for the shield match. Tindill and Pollock are to leave tonight, and will return to Wellington after the, match. Lambourn has intimated that [he cannot go. Edwards will be avail- | able, as he is not now due to report at Wigram for Air Force duty until Friday. Fulton is to return to Wellington after the match with Otago, but Edwards, being in \Christchurch, will be available against Canterbury. The Wellington team against Southland will be:— Full-back: Pollock. Three-quarters: Edwards, Fulton, Eastwood. Five-eighths: Jones, Sargisson. Half-back: Tindill. i Back-row forward: Wales. Middle-row forwards: Todd, Fraser Smith (captain), Griffin, Gunn. Front-row forwards: Hegglun, Burke, and Gilmour or McNicol. Other players on h,and will be: — Backs: Fleming, Burns, Veitch, and O'Ktalloran. Forward: Pringle. ,
