ROAD UNDER WATER
(By Telegraph —Press Association.) ' PALMERSTON N.. This Day. Due to heavy rain and the swollen state of the Manawatu River, also the westerly wind assisting the tide to back up the i*iver near Foxton, the main highway at Whirokino is still under water to a depth of over a foot in places. Traffic is advised to deviate via Shannon. It is not expected that the road will be cleared today as there is still a considerable quantity of water in the Moutoa area which has to find an outlet. No. damage was done in the higher area, though the country is well saturated. The Manawatu Gorge road is clear. The river is .now falling appreciably.
