OBITUARY
MR. W. P. POTTER
Mr. William P. Potter, a member of Bellamy's staff., died on Saturday morning at the age of 69 years. As a young man the deceased saw considerable service with the 11th Hussars on the Indian Frontier and in the Boer War, After his return to England, he joined the British South African Police and returned to South" Africa. He came- to New Zealand about twenty years ago, and after.living in various parts of the country, joined the Parliamentary Staff, later transferring to Bellamy's. He was very popular with his associates in. Parliament Buildings, many of whom attended the funeral today. The South African War Veterans' Association was also well represented, parading at the mortuary chapel with their president.Captain J. J. Clark, and afterwards at the South" African Veterans' plot at "Karon. The association's padre, Chaplain-Colonel D. C. Bates, officiated at the graveside, and at the close of the service members filed past and deposited a South African daisy on the casket. The deceased is survived by his widow, three sons, William Bryant, Thomas Frederick,: and Sydney Harold, and a daughter, Miss Violet Potter. In addition to the sons the pall-bearers were Messrs. J. Capper, S. Munn, and G. Cutts,, members of the Wellington South African War Veterans' Association.
