HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
The House of Representatives met at 250 pjn. today. The Prime Minister (the Et. Hon. M. J. Savage) asked the co-operation of members of the Opposition in helping the Government dispose of the remaining business of the session in 'time. for the House to adjourn for the recess on Saturday week. He would inform the House before the House rose what the date of the election would be. He hoped the Opposition would assist in putting through the Social • Security Bill in reasonable time today. Authority was taken for .Monday sittings. The Nelson City Empowering Bill was introduced, read a first time, and referred to the Local Bills Committee.
Urgency was taken for the passing of the Social Security Bill.
