U.S. LABOUR UNREST
BRIDGES STANDS TRIAL
SAN FRANCISCO, September 6.
Labour trouble is growing more serious. A strike of 7000 employees of 27 of the largest emporiums will - probably begin tomorrow. The Warehousemen's Association, whose employees are on strike, has rejected a peace ? offer.
Harry Bridges, the Labour leader, is on trial at Los Angeles on contempt of court charges arising out of a dispute concerning the San Pedro longshoremen. , He is accused of attempting to influence the Judge's decision by publishing a telegram he sent to the Secretary for Labour, Miss Perkins, allegedly threatening a longshoremen's strike if the decision were adverse, also of threatening verbally to call a strike.
