JERUSALEM, September 1,
Despite a bodyguard, bandits ambushed today, between Haifa and Tel Aviv, a car containing a well-known business man, Mr. Yechiel Weizmann, brother of the Zionist leader, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, puncturing the tyres with bullets and causing the car to overturn. The bandits then riddled it with bullets, killing the son of a leading lawyer and wounding all the other occupants. Bandits in ambush fired on a cartful of workers going home from Nessziona today, killing a newlyarrived migrant and seriously wounding two other Jews and a girl.
Two British soldiers were killed and four seriously injured in a land-mine explosion under a military truck near the Syrian frontier. The Manchester Regiment engaged large forces of Arabs north of Acre, bombing planes participating. An armed gang raided a police station at Jaffa, held up_ the guard, and carried off rifles and revolvers.
