EELWORM IN DAFFODILS
This Is one of the worst diseases to which daffodils are subject. It is extremely difficult to control and.x>nce strongly established is practically* im- " possible to get rid of, as the minute worms infest the soil and attack bulbs as soon as ; they are planted. Now that the daffodils are coming into, bloom '/ a watch should be kept for any bulbs showing distorted flower stalks, yellow foliage, and misshapen flowers on short stalks. These are definite signs of eelworm attack; and the bulbs should be lifted, with the soil surrounding them. The affected bulbs V and the soil should be burnt; if left,
adjoining bulbs will be infected and eventually the whole crops will be destroyed. It is a simple safeguard to. pour a kettle of boiling water into the ground from which affected bulbs have been removed. This will destroy any eelworms which may have-been left in the soft.-
