LONDON, August 18:
Mr. William H. Hall (Dujpedin), technical assistant to Dr. A. M. ; Begg, Director of the New Zealand branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign, has reached London in advance of Dr. Begg. Together, they, will use their year's leave of absence for further researches into the cancer problem. Mr. F. G. Spurdle, Wanganui, is in London during his summer vacation from the Gonsett Secondary School, County Durham, where he has been an assistant master- since 1931. He is dividing his time between the Public Record Office and the British Museum to obtain from' the archives the bal-' ance of material required for the compilation of a book to be entitled "West Indian Government in the j 17th and 18th Centuries." Mr. J. H. Hall-Kenny, Wellington; has passed the special final examination of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Out of 62 candidates who sat 19 passed. Mr. C. H. Sumner, Wellington, has left for the Continent. He has been in the north. Seventeen days were devoted to ; Lancashire (Manchester, Oldham, Blackpool,, and Leecfe)., • The contemplated tour of France, Germany, and Belgium will be mostly of a business nature. 1 Mr. G. F. Burgess, Paraparaumu, is a recent arrival in London after an extended motor tour of California and Canada. Mr.. W. Thompson, also of Paraparaumu, who accompanied Mr. Burgess, has been indisposed since reaching England and is at present in Yorkshire, where, under medical care, he -is making steady improvement. Both expect to leave by the Strathallan about the middle of September.
