MOTOR INSURANCE
PUBLIC MUTUAL CO.
QUESTION IN HOUSE
"The decision of the company as set out in the circular seems to open the question of the, urgency of an inquiry into motor insurance generally as affecting' motor users," said Mr. G. H. Burnett (Goverrimeniv Tauranga) in the House of Representatives yesterday when he gave notice to ask the Minister of Finance the following question:— "Has the Minister's attention been drawn to the circular issued by the Public Mutual Insurance Co. of New Zealand on August 27 last, in which notice has been given to members of the company of the directors' intention to make a levy on members to meet what the company claims have been unforeseen and unavoidable expenditure and claims in respect-to'the administration of the company?
"In view of the serious financial responsibilities cast upon many individual members due to the proposed enforcement of the levy, will the Minister cause an inquiry to be'made into the circumstances generally as resulting from the attitude taken by the company?"
