SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
Pressure has been high from the ; northwest Tasman Sea across the Dominion to the vicinity of Chatham Island. A depression passed in th 4 south last night while another is located this morning west of the South Island, but pressure is rising strongly over Tasmania. Winds have been .light to moderate; southerlies over the North Island and noriherlies over the South; but the northerlies aro' freshening. Fair to fine weather was general yesterday, but rain set in overnight in Westland. Day" temperatures were milder but the night was cold with frosts in: both islands.
