WELLINGTON TOURNEY

The Wellington table tennis championships were continued at the Boys' Institute building last night, when the men's open singles event was commenced. The champion, W. McFarlane, was beaten by L. Pyne in the fifth round. L. Wilson was earlier beaten by G. Mcßride, and Mcßride went down to Pyne in the fourth round.

The third grade men's singles and doubles' and the men's open doubles will be played tonight. Tomorrow night the matches outstanding in the ■men's second grade singles and doubles will be played in conjunction with the women's events.

The following are the final results of last night's play:—

Fourth Round.—McFarlane beat Bonholt, 21-15, 21-9, 21-17; Pyne beat W. Mcßride, 21-18, 2-21, 17-21, 21-15; Hayvice beat Osbaldiston, 21-18, 12-21, 21-17, 21-19; Gosling- beat Johnston, 21-14, 15----21, 21-18, 21-16; Robieson beat Kennedy, 21-18, 21-11, 21-18; Hughes beat S. Henderson, 21-17, 21-10, 21-12; Boniface beat Longmore, 21-9, 19-21, 21-11, 21-8; Smith beat Mclvor, 21-14, 23-21, 15-21, 19-21, 21-17.

Fifth Round.—Pyne beat McFarlane, 18-21, 21-17, 21-19, 21-16.
