FIGHTERS
(Eeceiyed September 6, 9 a.m.) HONG KONG, September 5. Japanese planes attacked and forced down a plane belonging to a SinoGerman company, as it was proceeding to Yunnan from Hong Kong. The plane was clearly marked with the German and Chinese colours. It contained seven passengers, including the manager of the airline, Herr Holtz. It encountered three Japanese fighters which dived to the attack. The machine was skilfully brought down at Liwchow. Ten bullet holes were found in the wings. Eighty bullet holes, each lsin in diameter, were found in the wreckage of an airliner which was brought down on August 24, in the Canton delta, and which the Japanese denied having fired at.
