SPRING SHOW
HUTT VALLEY FLOWERS
Final arrangements for the spring show of the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society (which this year will be combined with the annual show of the National Daffodil Society), were made at a largely-attended meeting of the general committee, presided over by Mr. J. S. Barton, .I&SK week.
The secretary reported that the show would be opened by her Excellency Viscountess Galway* and that the guard of honour would be the senior girls of the Hutt Valley High School.
Others who had accepted invitations to be present were the president of J the National Daffodil Society (Sir Heaton Rhodes) and Mrs. Knox Gilmer, a vice-president. Mr. E. Hutt, superintendent of reserves, submitted a plan of the lay-out-of the hall which would be in the form of a miniature garden, with plots in full bloom of seasonable flowers and flowering shrubs. It was stated by a member that .this form of lay-out would be unique in the history of the Dominion, and that visitors would see a real spring garden of daffodils, hyacinths, iceland poppies, polyanthus, primroses, etc. A member of the ladies' committee reported that full arrangements had been made for providing hospitality for visitors.
The secretary reported that big entries had been promised from Auckland, Taranaki, Rangitikei, and Marton -^strict.
