SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
Since yesterday pressure has risen slightly in* the north and is now high and very uniform over the Dominion, With the exception of the far south, where barometers are falling slowly. This morning southerly winds still predominate over the North Island but are now only light in force. Over the South Island light to moderate north-easterlies or northerlies have prevailed. With the exception .of some . light showers or scattered drizzle along' the east coast between East Cape and Banks Peninsula, the weather has been fair to fine generally. Temperatures have been cold and there were some frosts last night in the South Island. '

Winds.—Northerlies predominating over the South Island, variables over -the North, but northerlies gradually becoming more general. Force light to moderate but later freshening somewhat about and south of Cook Strait Seas.— Slight to moderate. Weather. —Mainly fair to fine but with considerable cloud and In places fog or drizzle in the morning. Scattered rains gradually developing, also, in Westland and the far south. Temperatures cool with some frosts inland.
