TEMPERANCE WORK
A meeting of the Brooklyn branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held recently in the Methodist Hall. Mrs. Reed presided over a large attendance, and conducted the devotions. Several visitors were welcomed. . The treasurer reported that the amount raised by the recent concert in aid of temperance work was most satisfactory. An appeal was made for old garments to be reconditioned for the Ramabai Mission box. A special meeting was arranged to further preparations for poll work, and a day of prayer was fixed. Mrs. Connell sang ,two delightful solos, accompanied by Mrs. Wilson, after which a most interesting travel talk was given by Miss Samson. She spoke of Truby King work in Australia, England, and other parts of the world. Her account of mothercraft work and training at the great London centre, Cromwell House, was of special interest. There nurses of all nationalities were trained in Plunket Society methods. .
The Methodist ladies were hostesses at afternoon tea.
