LEVY ON INDIVIDUALS

A request to the Hon. W. Nash (Minister of Finance) to remove any misapprehension as to the amount to be deducted from wages for social security charges was made by a questioner at Mr. Nash's meeting at Petone last evening. Mr. Nash said the deduction from wages.was at present 8d in the £ and he did not think there was any chance of the social security charge being in excess of Is. By this he did not mean an extra shilling in addition to the present amount deducted. For instance, if a man in receipt of £5 a week now had 3s 4d deducted from his wages he would, under the new scheme, have 5s deducted for the extra benefits.
