Blundell, of Wellington, who has been visiting California, was a pasisenger by the Monterey which arrived at Auckland yesterday, and I returned to Wellington by the Limited ! --xpress this morning. Mr. C. E. Critchley, Australian Trade Commissioner, returned from Auckland by the Limited express today. ~ Mr. H. Wright, who has been on the engineering staff of the Lower Hutt Borough Council for the past five years.and who will leave on September 22 to join the Royal Air Force, was farewelled last evening, when the Town Clerk (Mr. B. S. Knox) and borough inspector (Mr. J. Fletcher) extended their best wishes for his future "* success and referred to the esteem in which he was held by his fellowemployees. He was presented with a fountain pen and pencil. Mr. C. A. Hutchinson, United States Consul at Adelaide, and Mrs., Hutchinson were through passengers' for Melbourne by the Monterey, which.,.arrived at Auckland yesterday. They have been on holiday in the United, States. Captain A. S. Lawrence, aide-de-camp to Lord Wakehurst, Governor of New South Wales, passed through Auckland on the Monterey yesterday on his way back to Australia after ft holiday visit to Hawaii. Sir John McKelvey, of Sydney, ft prominent surgeon, was a through passenger for Australia by the Monterey, which arrived at Auckland yesterday. Mr. G. W. Hutchison, district governor of Rotary, arrived from Auckland today by the Limited express.
