MR. W.DUNCAN
FOR WELLINGTON SOUTH
Mr. William Duncan, a member of the Wellington City Council, and chairman of its reserves committee, has announced that In response to a request made to him by electors residing within the Wellington South electorate, he has decided to become a candidate for that seat at the next General Elections. It was his intention to stand as an Independent Liberal.
Mr. Duncan was first returned to the City Council in 1931, and has been a member ever since. In the last council he was chairman of the staff committee, and this year he was elected chairman of the reserves committee. He has taken part in the administration of yachting and Soccer, football. He was commodore of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club, and for years sailed his own boat.
Mr. Duncan made his first attempt to enter national politics three years ago, when he was defeated for the Wellington East seat.
