Major-General J. E. Duigan, Chief of the General Staff, and Colonel I. T. Standish are visiting Wanganui to inspect the weekend bivouac of the Wellington-West Coast Regiment. Dr. G. J. Adams, co-manager of the All Black team, was the guest of honour at a "welcome home" dinner on Thursday night tendered by the.management committee of the Wanganui Rugby Union and Mr. H. E. Card. Mr. C. L. Mullany leaves Taihape on j transfer to Wellington on Monday. The Wanganui Rugby Union has placed- on record its great appreciation of Mr. ; Mullany's work as a member of its selection committee. ' Mr. W. J. Rowe, of Wellington; who has been on a health-recruiting trip to Suva, has returned. ■■ ■ Dr. I. J. Bridges, Director-General of the New Zealand Red. Cross Society, returned to Wellington this morning from Christchurch. Mr. Courtney Biggs, officer in charge of the Forestry Department in North- ', land, has been appointed conservator of the Canterbury district, with headquarters at Christchurchi Mr. A. S. Faire, manager of th« Public Trust Office in. Auckland, ar- '■ rived today by train. : Mr. D. J. Cummings, Commissioner ; of Police, who has been in the Waikato ' for the last three days, has returned to Wellington. .
