RED CROSS SOCIETY

MEN'S DETACHMENT

An address on Red Cross work in the desert during the war was given to the Wellington men's detachment of the New Zealand Red Cross Society by Captain A. S. Blackie in the Red Cross rooms recently. Captain Blackie gave a general description of the country and the people, and compared the conditions existing in the desert with the conditions in New Zealand. He described the conditions and devotion to service under* the Red Cross, and stressed the necessity for training men for that important work in both peace and war. He concluded his address with an appeal to the men to continue the work and to train as many as possible for this branch of service to humanity.

Commandant Harkness thanked Captain Blackie for the address. . Several questions were asked by the men and answered by the speaker.
