STATE HOUSES

CEREMONY AT LEVIN

On Saturday afternoon the first group of dwellings erected in Levin under the Government's housing scheme were officially opened. The group comprises seven dwellings. The Mayor of Levin, Mr. P. W. Goldsmith, spoke first to the large gathering of the public assembled for the occasion and after congratulating the Government on the style of houses being built, called on the member for the Otaki electorate, Mr. L. G. Lowry, to perform the official opening. At the conclusion of Mr. Lowry's remarks those present inspected one of the dwellings. The demand for the houses is very keen, there being some thirty applicants for the seven dwellings.
