TWO RECORDS BROKEN

WOODERSON OVER HALF-

MILE

LONDON, August 20,

S. C. Wooderson covered the halfmile in lmin 49 l-ssec, which is a world record, today. He also broke the world 800-metre record with lmin 48 2-ssec.

The records were made with the assistance of a specially-framed handicap, in which Wooderson's brother participated, at Hotspur Park.

The previous record for the half-mile was lmin 49 4-ssec, by B. Eastman (U.S.A.) in 1934, and the 800 metres record was lmin 49 3-ssec by E. Robinson (U.S.A.) in 1937.
