The "Railway" Gazette reports that an examination of British, French, and German express train speeds shows that the London and North-Eastern Railway appears to be fully entitled, with a maximum of 125 m.p.h.— actually, for a very short distance, 126 was found on the dynamometer chart —to claim the world record for steam. This speed was achieved by the Coronation stream-lined express on July 3.
