KARORI II V. HUIA I

The meeting between Karori's second team and Huia I at Nae Nae proved to be an interesting game in which the speed and better finish of the Huia combination enabled them to win comfortably by four goals to nil.

Huia attacked strongly early in the opening spell, but good work by K. Perrin, the Karori left full-back, was largely instrumental in keeping them out. Karori then attacked strongly, but infringements nullified their efforts. Shortly before the end of the spell, Huia came back again and M. Dentice, at centre forward, netted, making the score 1-nil in Huia's favour.

There was a lot of up-and-down play early in the second spell until Huia swept to "the attack and Wheatley, who played a particularly good game, brought their score to two. Karori counter-attacked,, but from a penalty, Wheatley brought the ball down the right wing in a fast solo dash and then centred smartly to Jackson, who netted. Huia's final score came when a strong Karori attack was driven back, and Kelly found the goal from the middle of a scramble, making the final score Huia I 4, Karori II nil. Messrs. C. Gardiner and W. Dredge were the umpires.
